Castellar de n’Hug, in the south face of the Pyrenees, within the Cadí-Moixerò Natural Parc was in danger of abandon like many other little villages in the mountain, but the tenacity of its people has allowed it to remain alive.
Since Xth century people in Castellar de n’Hug have been devoted to working the land, the flocks, the wood, and for some periods to smuggling. We can proudly say that Castellar de n’Hug has been a village of shepherds and smugglers.
Walking in Castellar de n’Hug and its surroundings is like travelling to the past but with the last years modern improvements.
